All India Coordinated Research Project

All India Coordinated Research Project on Palms started during 1972 with Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasaragod as headquarters conducting research on Oil Palm at four centres viz., Vijayarai in Andhra Pradesh, Gangavathi in Karnataka, Aduthurai in Tamil Nadu and Mulde in Maharashtra.  The following trails are in progress in these centres :

Evaluation of Oil Palm crosses

Drip irrigation cum fertilizer

Evaluation of new cross combinations in Oil Palm

Two new centres were also started during 2008, one at Madhopur, West Champaram, Bihar and another at College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.  Oil Palm was planted for 'maximization' as well as 'fertigation' experiments in these centres in order to prove the potential of oil palm in that region and to bring in confidence among the farmers.
